Supporting Pancreatic Cancer Care

By Ellen & James Lew

Did you know that pancreatic cancer is currently the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in Australia? Help us support a Pancreatic Nurse Specialist who cares for those who have been affected by this insidious disease.

In memory of Ellen’s mother, Joanna Youie, we are raising funds to add to the Ellen and James Lew Pancreatic Cancer Nurse Endowment Fund. This is an enduring fund where the interest earned is currently going towards funding a Jreissati Pancreatic Centre Pancreatic Nurse Specialist at Epworth Eastern for two days per week.

Jreissati Pancreatic Nurse Specialists are located across multiple Epworth sites to provide comprehensive care and support to pancreatic cancer patients and their families, with the aim to have newly referred patients seen by a specialist within 72 hours.

Ellen’s mother was a nurse who died from pancreatic cancer, so as an increasing number of cases are being diagnosed, our goal to increase specialist nurse hours is very close to our hearts.

By increasing the principal amount of the Endowment Fund, we hope the additional interest earned can increase the number of specialist nurse hours at Epworth Eastern. Every donation will help towards this goal. Please help us support patients and families who are dealing with pancreatic cancer by making a tax-deductible donation.
