I'm fundraising for the E.J. Whitten Prostate Cancer Centre at Epworth.

Hi,

In October this year I am embarking on a walking trip in northern Italy, courtesy of an invite from the E.J. Whitten Prostate Cancer Research Centre, to raise funds for prostate cancer research. The trek, airfare, and accommodation are entirely self-funded. Participation, however, is conditional upon raising a minimum of $2,500 for the Whitten Centre and its ongoing prostate cancer research.

I am very lucky to work closely with Prof Nathan Lawrentschuk and Thili, his research Manager at the Whitten Centre, treating prostate cancer patients using Nanoknife (Nanoknife treats the prostate cancer and preserves the rest of the prostate with minimal side effects, and little downtime!).

My own father had prostate cancer and was treated using 2 months of daily radiation. Whilst it stopped the cancer, he was reluctant to go far from home after the treatment, really affecting his quality of life thereafter.  I have had 2 close friends in their early 50s die of prostate cancer since COVID, and the impact on all family members is life changing and heartbreaking.

What we know is that early detection is the key to positive outcomes. So, I ask you to join me to help raise funds for the Whitten Centre to enable Nathan and his team to continue their great work giving hope to those with prostate cancer.
