I'm fundraising to support pancreatic patients at Epworth...
Hello, I am dusting off my hiking boots to walk the Epworth Portugal Camino charity challenge for Pancreatic Cancer.
Please join me in supporting the Epworth Medical Foundation and in particular the Jreissati Family Pancreatic Centre led by A/Prof Andrew Metz in its continued commitment to fighting this disease.
With a 5-year survival rate of only 12%, the Centre’s ultimate goal is to find new ways to diagnose patients earlier so that this rate is increased.
I am dedicating this walk to three inspiring women in my life: my mother who passed away unexpectedly within a five-week period from diagnosis when my children were very small; my mother-in-law who passed away suddenly last month; and my beautiful friend Mary, who at 95 still plays in a band and takes Italian classes, a stalwart in my life, and if not for her back problems I am sure she would be riding in a taxi between the villages urging me on!
Looking forward to sharing this adventure with you and as I traverse an average of 20km per day. I guess I better start training this weekend….!
